AUGUST 2001 ARCHIVE:
The Maiden Voyage of the Michael Steele Good Housekeeping Page

Dearest Banglefolk--

Welcome to the maiden voyage of the Michael Steele Good Housekeeping Page... first of all, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of you long-- suffering good people out there for waiting so patiently for the Bangles to get their *#@* together... we're gonna start recording in mid-- August and hope to have the lion's share of the album done before the year is through... so please stay tuned for a bit longer if you possible can...

Our fearless webmaster has very politely asked me to do a personal bio for this page, and I'm not gonna do it, at least not right now, 'cos I kinda hate "bios" in general. Seems to me that many of the most important moments in life would never make it into a "bio" anyhow; y'know, not the "right" kind of material, not a lot of pizzazz... and besides, for a few giggles, you can check out all the other bios out there on the net/web... they are so full of stunning inaccuracies and flights of fancy that I'd have to make stuff up just to outdo 'em. (I do understand that enquiring minds want to know-- I'll get to it eventually... maybe. Until then, I hope what a little monthly chat & dish will suffice.)

Our very first Mess of the Month features Jamie the dog (otherwise known as "purveyor of chaos"), and the result of not giving your dog the exercise he or she needs on a daily basis. (Bad Michael! Bad, BAD dog owner!!!) I will be featuring other outstanding messes as time goes by; I'd also like to invite my readers out there to send in any photos of their own lapses-in-housekeeping, as well as any household cleaning and/or organizing tips that may have helped you in your quest (boys, too-- don't be shy)... if I get a real humdinger, I'll post it here on the M.S.G.H.P (Michael Steele-- the Erma Bombeck of rock and roll? Ahh, now-- there's a career goal...)

Music-enjoyment-wise, I've been listening to a lot of Elliot Smith lately... probably because I was living in a solar powered yurt in the redwoods at the time, I kinda missed much of Mr. Smith's music as it came out; I've been playin' catch-up ever since... a belated pleasure.

And according to the good folks who run the Sweet Adeline fansite (a very friendly & informative site to visit, even for a confirmed Luddite like myself), the new E.S. album is very near to being deemed as "done"... something to look forward to in those long, cold months ahead.

And with that totally unsolicited plug, (really-- I don't even know the guy), I must leave you all, as I am heading up to the Olde Homestead to rest & recover from a bout of bronchitis (smog-induced, no doubt) and to attempt to finish a song or two. Thanks, again, everybody, for hanging in there with us, and a special thanks to all those brave souls who've bee keeping their fabulous fansites going for all these (gulp!) years... Okay, then-- 'til we meet again next month--

Cheers--
