i
had already made the tortuous decision to move back to
California
when John Cowsill appeared
in
New Orleans
and proposed to me, making the entire adventure all
that much more exciting.Trucks were loaded and sent ahead, and my new
fiancé and i drove off
together towards
California
and a new life.But
on the way we were determined to take time and soak up
some natural beauty...
First stop for John and me was Miss June's B & B in Washington, LA. We met Susan Cowsill and her fiancé Russ there for a romantic sendoff. A nice transition for me out of Cajun culture and Southern hospitality...to the beauty of the southwestern desert.
John
took this of me staring out at the beautiful colors of
the
Painted Desert
in
Arizona
.Notice
that i have the car
keys...
John
did the old prop-the-camera-on-a-rock-with-a-stick
trick to get this shot of the two of us resting after
a hike around Window Rock.
John
does his best thinking while seated on petrified
wood...
i
was approximately two years old the first time i
ever visited the
Grand Canyon
with my family.i
decided that the view was better from the other side
of the railing...my father grabbed me just in time. Here i am, happily
on the right side of the rail...
John
was amazed by the
Grand Canyon
--he'd never seen it.Here he is, imitating my goofy wistfulness...(and
yeah, it was cold!!!)
My
sweet friend Amanda and her family hosted a party to
celebrate the engagement and to welcome me back to L.A.All my Banglemates were there, along with a few
close friends and family members. Amanda
had done her homework and dug up some Cowsill
memorabilia for us all to ponder.Poor John! He’s getting a taste of what he’s in for!
They don’t normally allow us to handle sharp objects! Yee hah!!!
…More adventures (and probably a new recipe or two) in upcoming Vicki pages… stay tuned!
Oh, and a heartfelt thank-you to all who posted such loving messages after my Valentine’s Day announcement. John and I read them together and were very touched by your well wishes.
