Continental Drifters and Cucumber Soup

Hey y’all…
(uh oh…Louisiana cultural influences showing…) Welcome to my little
piece of cyberspace. I’m very excited about our Official Web
Site and the many ways we’ll be able to use it to connect with
you, keeping you fully up-to-date on all new happenings,
recordings and appearances. I’m also hoping that you’ll use it
as a way to communicate with us, and let us know about what’s
important to you. In the meantime, though, I’ll tell you a
little bit about what I’ve been up to…

In 1991 I was writing and singing with my
longtime friend Susan Cowsill. We called ourselves
the psycho sisters. Actually, somebody else had
called us that and, feeling that it was strangely
appropriate, we never got around to changing it.
That year Susan and i fell in with some old
friends who were operating a kind of songwriter’s
collective out of a house in Studio City, CA. It
was taking form as an actual band, with
performances every Tuesday night, but when we
started showing up for “rehearsals” on Mondays,
the emphasis was more on who-was-gonna-make-what-for-dinner -and-did-somebody-bring
-beer? than any structured or technical
rehearsing. Hey! This was for Me! Not that I’m
lazy or anything, oh no, far from it. But i was at
that point in my life very, very receptive to a
room full of talented people who were writing and
playing their songs for one another for the simple
and sheer joy of singing together. This was, my
friends, the beginning of my life as one of the
Continental Drifters, the “other band” to which
I’ve devoted the last ten years of my life. i want
to thank all of you who’ve discovered and
supported the Drifters--and it has not escaped my
notice that many Bangles fans are Drifters fans
and vice versa… click here for more Continental
Drifters news…

Speaking of food
(well, we were-sorta) some of you might know
that I’ve been a vegetarian for a long, long
time. i love to cook and i thought it’d be fun
to share some of my own favorite recipes with
you. I’ll post new ones with some sort of
regularity (approximately every month) and most
of them will come from my own collection of
clippings and discoveries. Occasionally I’ll
post one that looks interesting, even if i
haven’t tried it yet-we’ll find out together
whether or not it’s worth its salt. Sorry. It’s
late… | | |

Here’s a simple summer soup-and it’s green!
If the idea of soy milk is too much for you, try
it with cow’s milk…
