SANDY WEST MEMORIAL CONCERT | 12/9/2006<< GO BACK | CLICK FOR DETAILS!
JOIN THE BANGLES ON DECEMBER 9 AT THE KNITTING FACTORY IN HONOR OF THE RUNAWAYS' SANDY WEST

The Runaways carried the banner for teenage rockers in the late 70's, and twenty-five years after their debut album, continue to hold a captivated cult following in the palms of their hands.   Groundbreaking band members Cherie Currie, Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Sandy West, and of course the Bangles' own Michael Steele paved the way for legions of female rockers after them, and it is with deep sadness that the music community mourns the loss of Sandy to a hard-fought battle with cancer.

In honor of Sandy, and to benefit the newly-founded Sandy West Foundation, The Knitting Factory is proud to host a tribute concert on December 9, 2006. Former Runaway vocalist Cherie Currie will perform an all-Runaways set, and many other Los Angeles luminaries are on board, including The Bangles, The Donnas, Adolescents, The Sandy West Band, Michael Des Barres Freelove Foundation, The Binges, DH Peligro (Dead Kennedys), Rhino Bucket, White Flag, Carmine and Vinnie Appice, Katt Lowe, Ian Mitchell (Bay City Rollers), Jake Hays (Athens) and more yet to come.

Please join The Bangles with guest bassist Abby Travis at the Knitting Factory December 9 to honor Sandy's contributions and in support of the Sandy West Foundation, which has been set up by Sandy's family to aid musicians in need of cancer treatment and rehab, and for musical scholarships.
